Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 5 November 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Divv Saxena, a sole proprietor based in Uttar Pradesh, India, who makes and sells Elfie (“we”, “us”). They cover the Elfie app for macOS, your license to use it, and this website. Please read them before you buy. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, using or buying Elfie, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use or buy Elfie.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to buy Elfie. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must accept these terms and make the purchase for you, and is responsible for your use of Elfie.
3. Your license
When you buy Elfie, and as long as you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Elfie on the number of Macs you paid for (1 or 5), as long as you own or control them. You may use the wallpapers that come with Elfie on your own devices for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not:
- resell, rent, lend, sublicense or otherwise transfer Elfie or your license;
- share, publish or sell your license key, or use one license on more Macs than you paid for;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Elfie, except where the law expressly allows it;
- get around the license check or the free trial, or help anyone else do so;
- modify Elfie, or reuse its character, artwork or wallpapers outside the app, except as allowed above.
We keep all rights not expressly granted to you.
4. Free trial
Elfie comes with a free 7-day trial with all features, starting the first time you open it on a Mac, so you can try it before you buy. When the trial ends, the elf keeps hiding but wallpapers lock until you buy a license.
5. Purchases and payment
Orders are processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. Dodo Payments is the seller on your order: it handles the payment, issues your invoice and calculates and collects taxes. Your purchase is also subject to Dodo Payments' Buyer Terms.
- Prices are one-time and in US dollars: $7 for 1 Mac and $12 for 5 Macs.
- Taxes such as GST or VAT are added where applicable, based on your location, and shown at checkout.
- Discount codes, such as the early-bird code EARLYBIRD, work only while advertised, only on the products they're offered for, and can't be exchanged for cash.
- Your license key is shown after checkout and emailed to you. Your bank or card issuer may charge currency conversion fees.
6. Refunds
All sales are final. Because Elfie has a free trial so you can try it before buying, we do not offer refunds, except where required by applicable law or by our payment provider's buyer terms (for example, duplicate charges or a product that does not work as described and that we cannot fix).
If Elfie isn't working, email [email protected] with your Mac model and macOS version, and we'll help fix it. For a duplicate charge, include your order number from the Dodo Payments receipt.
7. Updates and availability
Elfie is a seasonal app. We may add, change or remove features, release updates or stop selling Elfie. Your license covers the version you bought plus any updates we choose to release. We don't promise future versions, compatibility with future macOS releases, or support for any particular period.
8. Intellectual property
Elfie, its elf character, artwork, wallpapers, name and logo, and the content of this website belong to Divv Saxena. Elfie is not affiliated with “The Elf on the Shelf” or any other brand. All other trademarks belong to their owners. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
9. Termination
You can stop using Elfie at any time. If you misuse Elfie or break these terms, for example by sharing or selling license keys, getting around the license check, or making fraudulent purchases or chargebacks, we may deactivate your license key, after notice where reasonable. Sections 8 and 10 to 15 continue to apply after termination.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, Elfie is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that Elfie will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with every Mac, display or setup. Elfie draws on top of your screen. If you don't want it visible, for example during screen sharing, it's up to you to hide it with Ctrl-Option-E or Pause.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from Elfie or these terms. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Elfie. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under laws that can't be excluded, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your misuse of Elfie or your breach of these terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. This doesn't take away any right you have to approach a consumer commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. The version in force when you bought Elfie governs that purchase. If you keep using Elfie after a change, you accept the updated terms.
15. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Elfie. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right, that doesn't mean we've waived it. You may not transfer these terms. We may transfer them to whoever takes over Elfie.
